Horseback Safaris

Due to buffalo on the reserve, riders wanting to do a horseback safari must have enough past horse riding experience to fully control their horse at a canter and gallop. Rides only on the reserve last 2 hours, but if you choose to add on a beach ride 3 hours.

Beach rides can be arranged for riders of any ability and can last from 1 up to 2 hours.

The benefits of a horse safari include a lack of car noises, allowing you to immerse yourself fully in the bush. Many animals are also more comfortable around horses than around cars, often allowing you to get closer to the animals.

If your group has a number of horse riders and a number of people more keen for a guided game drive, you can split the group and do both.

The program will depend on what ride duration you choose. All rides start from the horse stables, where you will have a chance to meet your horse and get fitted out with your helmet. 

After your horse has been selected (based on your horse riding experience), you will saddle up and head out for your ride. 

You will be following the lead rider/guide, who will take you around the reserve and/or onto the beach.

DON’T FORGET TO BRING:

– A warm top or windbreaker

– Sun hat and suncream

– Water
